Review- Come To Me Quietly by A.L.Jackson

Summary-

Aleena Moore is content with her life. She has goals and dreams and an easy smile. She also has a secret she holds locked inside.

Jared Holt believes he doesn’t deserve to love or be loved. He destroys everything he touches. Haunted by the mistake that shattered his life, he’s fled from the memory of that pain.

Jared doesn’t know why he’s compelled to return, but finds himself drawn back to the place where it all began. The exact place where it ended. When he runs into his childhood best friend, Aleena’s older brother Christopher, he agrees to share Christopher and Aleena’s apartment while he looks for a place of his own.

Aleena is no longer the little girl Jared remembers from his past and evokes feelings in him he never wanted to feel again. Terrified of destroying her, he fights to keep her away. But her touch is something he can’t resist—the touch that sealed his fate.

Their pasts are intertwined and their futures uncertain. The only truths they know are the secrets they whisper in the night.

Review-

I started Come to Me Quietly just because the summary sounded good. I did not expect to be blown away by the book like I was. A.L.Jackson is a fabulous author and I don't know how I haven't read any of her books before. I loved Come To Me Quietly.

Aleena has always been the good girl. She's worked hard to get where she is in life and she's content with it. I really loved Aly. She was sweet and shy. Never once did she pretend to be something she was not. She had this quiet strength about her and she was not afraid to show how her feelings to the people she loved. She balanced Jared out to perfection.

Then we have Jared. God, Jared's story is SO sad. He is a broken man who thinks he is unworthy of any kind of love. When he agrees to stay with his best friend Christopher and his little sister Aly he does not expect to be so overcome by his feelings for her which were always present. Jared had a ton of issues but his love and protectiveness for Aly never wavered.

The romance between Aly and Jared is slow burn. They start out with the friendship which was always present between them. Aly just gets Jared and what he must be feeling. The bond they share goes so deep and I loved how they found their way towards each other. The chemistry and intimacy between Aly and Jared was amazing.

Come to Me Quietly really has this quiet intensity through out the book. You can feel it while reading. A.L.Jackson has an amazing way with words and I found myself highlighting a ton of stuff. This book has a happy for now ending but I'm so glad there's another book. I'm looking forward to seeing more of Aly and Jared.

  1. It's been a while since I last read mature YA or NA, but this summary sounds amazing. Also, the fact that the romance between the main characters is slow-building is definitely something to watch out for - we don't get a lot of these nowadays.

    Great review, Janhvi! :)

  2. I have this novel on my TBR list, but I always thought that it's just another NA. Judging by your review, it is not. :)
    Great review, Janhvi.
