A Connecticut Yankee in Queen Victoria’s Court by G. Miki Hayden: Engineering professor Dr. Alice Alante doesn't believe in time travel. But when she's sent to Queen Victoria's Windsor castle in a strange machine, her only choice may be to help build a dirigible to defend the crown.

On her last robbery attempt, she’s arrested and forced to place her trust in the museum owner’s daughter who has her own reasons for wanting to get to Leikei. If she can trust her, Adeline just might be able to rescue Colin. If not, it might be the end for them all.

EtherealCoil by S.A. Larsen: A new sin eater's refusal to do her job of keeping balance between good and evil awakens Wrath, one of the Seven Deadly Sins, endangering those closest to her.

Fritz Finkel and the Marvelous Mechanical Thing by Lorna MacDonald Czarnota: Every era has to begin sometime, and every inventor starts someplace. For Fritz, it is the opportunity to impress the "apple of his eye," the lovely, unobtainable Greta Spielmacher--the toymaker's daughter.  Fritz wants to be a toy designer, but he's the janitor. Will his special toy be the key to winning his lady love?

Henry the Tailor by Grant Eagar: Henry is a tailor and inventor of flying machines. Sophie is an agent for the English secret service. Henry and Sophie live in the alternate, steam powered world of Victorian England. The country is at war with Count Von-Friedrich and his horde of mercenaries. The spies of the count are killing and kidnapping the English scientists and inventors. Sophie’s job is to root out the spies and she uses Henry’s inventions as an enticement.

Talking Metal by W. K. Pomeroy: Five years after piloting a zeppelin to the other side of the world to find the spark, Saskia is on the verge of inventing greatness, but her old professor appears to have beaten her to the patent office, or has he?

The Women of Lastonia by Lorna Marie Larson: Earth's best team must learn why a distant planet won't join the Interstellar Alliance. Diplomacy is key, but the closed steampunk society has some primeval ideas on how to treat the fairer sex.

A small gasp escaped from her but was quickly silencedby the firm press of Brett’s mouth on hers. Unlike their last kiss, which had felt so tender, this time Brett was leaving no room for confusion about his intentions. She stiffened against his touch, trying to resist him, but pleasure pooled warm in her stomach and the space between her legs began to ache as he wrapped two arms around her waist and pulled her to his chest.
Oh, God. She wanted to fight this. The feeling he was stirringwithin her. The need for more. She opened her mouth to him, letting him in. He kissed her deeply, not giving her a chance to break away, and she wasn’t so sure she could, even if she wanted to. Her hands, which had been pushed off her hips by the strength of his arms, hung loosely at her sides, as if determined to stay out of this drama she was creating for herself, but, like her mouth, they lost the fight. She slid her hands up onto Brett’s arms, taking in every curve of his hard muscles, and up onto his shoulders as she leaned into him. His breath was heavy as he kissed her harder, and she parted her legs to let his slide between and press against the tightness that was building within her.
“What are we doing?” she asked when they finallycame apart. She blinked up at him and resisted the urge to flatten his disheveled locks. I did that, she realized with a flutter.
“I don’t really know.” Brett’s voice was low and coarse.“But I like it.”
She firmed her mouth and smoothed her dress. Not goodenough.
Turning to stare at the folding table, she felt her spiritsbegin to sag. She’d let him in again. Let him take her to places she’d wanted, to dream dreams that should have stayed in her unconscious. And nothing had changed. Men don’t change, Ivy. That’s what her mother had always said. When would she learn?
“Well, it can’t happen again,” she insisted.
“Oh no?”
She glanced back to see that slow, sexy smile. “No.” Buteven as she said it, her body was saying yes.

Review- Girl vs. Boy Band: The Right Track by Harmony Jones

Girl vs. Boy Band: The Right Track on Goodreads

Talented but painfully shy eighth-grader Lark secretly writes feisty, heartfelt songs about her life-about school, crushes on boys, not getting along with her mom, and missing her dad who lives in Nashville. But that secret becomes harder to keep when Lark's mother, a music record executive at her own label, announces that British boy band Abbey Road will be coming to live with them while they make their first album!

Sharing her L.A. house with three noisy, mischievous rising stars isn't as glamorous as expected, especially when things aren't going smoothly with the band members. When one of them plagiarizes one of Lark's songs and passes it off as his own, will Lark gain the courage to step into the spotlight herself?

Release date: June 14th 2016

Page numbers: 228

Girl vs. Boy Band: The Right Track came in my Bloomsbury Bundle that I won on Instagram. Because it seemed like a short and sweet read, I decided to start with it immediately, and I'm so glad that it actually turned out to be a very short and sweet read that I enjoyed. I do like my share of Middle Grade once in a while, and like any MG book, this one too, was a perfect mix of drama, family, friendship and fun.

This is the story of Lark, whose father is a talented musician, but because he's always on the road and because her mom wants a career for herself, Lark is moved out of Nashville to L.A., where the country girl at heart seems to be getting more homesick each day. A natural at the guitar, songwriting and singing, Lark is terrified of sharing her songs with anyone, let alone performing them. This book follows her journey as a person and a musician and it was really adorable to read, especially her slowly but surely building love life, which was very cute.

Obviously, Lark is the girl in the title, but the boy band mentioned in it didn't disappoint at all. Lark's mother takes a British band called Abbey Road under her wings and she is planning on launching them. That means that Lark is forced to share her house with three annoying, noisy but totally cool and awesome teenage boys. The band members Aidan, Max and Ollie were wonderfully portrayed and both their journey as a band and as individuals was fun to read.

Overall, Girl vs. Boy Band: The Right Track is an adorable read that is very enjoyable as well. Author Harmony Jones has written a very cute book with wonderful characters and an interesting and gripping plot. I'm glad this is a series because I sure am excited to see what happens next. I'd definitely recommend this one to fans of MG and even others, because this book is bound to make a weekend good and memorable.

Waiting on Wednesday #173

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover
Publication date- August 2nd 2016

Goodreads Summary:

Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She’s come a long way from the small town in Maine where she grew up. She graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. So when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid everything in Lily’s life suddenly seems almost too good to be true.

Ryle is assertive, stubborn, and maybe even a little arrogant. He’s also sensitive, brilliant and has a total soft spot for Lily; and the way he looks in scrubs certainly doesn’t hurt. Lily can’t get him out of her head, but Ryle’s complete aversion to relationships is disturbing. Even as Lily finds herself becoming the exception to his no dating rule, she can’t help but wonder what made him that way in the first place.

As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan, her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.

With this bold and deeply personal novel Colleen Hoover delivers a heart-wrenching story that breaks exciting new ground for her as a writer. Combining a captivating romance with a cast of all too human characters, “It Ends with Us” is an unforgettable tale of love that comes at the ultimate price.

I am quite curious to see what Colleen has in store for us with this!

What are you waiting on this Wednesday? Happy waiting, and happy reading, everyone!

Waking Up With A Billionaire, #3

“Stay right where you are . . .”
Stretched out on the floor in front of Grayson, Chloe just felt sexy. The feeling only intensified as he took a seat and started to draw.
The way he painted was twice as sensuous as the way he drew. The brush was like an extension of his hand and the canvas her body. Wherever his hot gaze landed, she felt the stroke of his brush. Her feet. Her legs. Her breasts. Her warm center.
He made her feel beautiful. Breathtaking. And wicked.
She now understood what being “captured on canvas” meant. Right now she was Grayson’s. For all eternity, she wanted to be . . .
She didn’t realize she had spoken until his hand halted in mid-brushstroke. His gaze found hers, and he dropped the brush and slowly rose from the stool and looked down at her with hungry eyes. She remained perfectly still.
A willing sacrifice on the altar of Grayson. . .

“Who told you that I’ve bedded hundreds of women?”
“No one had to tell me. If you make the other women you paint feel the way I do, it just makes sense.”
Grayson lifted his head, and his eyes drilled right through her. “How do I make you feel, Chloe?”
It was past sexual attraction. Past anything she had ever felt with another man. But she couldn’t tell him that. Not when she was leaving. So instead of answering, she leaned in and kissed him. She kissed him with everything she had.
Without breaking the kiss, he stood and pulled her up with him. The warmth of his body spooned around her made her feel warm and secure, and she closed her eyes and drifted. She was in that place between wakefulness and dreamland when he whispered.
“You’re wrong, Chloe. You’re the only woman I can’t resist . . .”

Blog Tour + Giveaway- To Have and to Hold by Lauren Layne

Sex and the City meets The Wedding Planner in The Wedding Belles!

The Wedding Belles #1
Lauren Layne
Releasing July 26th, 2016
Pocket Books

Sex and the City meets The Wedding Planner in The Wedding Belles, her sizzling brand new contemporary romance series about three ambitious wedding planners who can make any bride’s dream come true…but their own.

Discovering her fiancé is an international conman just moments before they exchange vows devastates celebrity wedding planner Brooke Burke’s business—and breaks her heart. Now a pariah in Los Angeles, she seeks a fresh start in New York City and thinks she’s found it with her first bridal client, a sweet, if slightly spoiled, hotel heiress. Then she meets the uptight businessman who’s holding the purse springs.

Seth Tyler wishes he could write a blank check and be done with his sister’s fancy-pants wedding. Unfortunately, micromanaging the event is his only chance at proving Maya’s fiancé is a liar. Standing directly in his way is the stunning blonde wedding planner whose practiced smiles and sassy comebacks both irritate and arouse him. He needs Brooke’s help. But can he persuade a wedding planner on a comeback mission to unplan a wedding? And more importantly, how will he convince her that the wedding she should be planning…is theirs?

    Amazon | B & N | Google Play | iTunes | Kobo

I always enjoy the tone of Lauren Layne's books. They are fun and modern and basically have everything a contemporary romance junkie would want in a book. To Have and to Hold is the first book in her Wedding Belle series. There is also a prequel novella about another couple which I thought was cute enough. To Have and to Hold was for me, a good read, just not a great one like I expect from Lauren Layne.

Brooke is our heroine. Months ago, she discovered that her fiance was a con man. At the altar. Definitely not good, especially for a wedding planner who relies on her reputation. That is why she left LA and all the pity stares behind for New York where she starts working for The Wedding Belles. I liked Brooke. She was a sweet heart who was determined to believe in happy ever afters. She always saw the good in people and wanted to be the best wedding planner.

Seth Tyler is our hero. He is the owner of one of the biggest hotel chains in the country. He is still reeling from the loss of his father and trying to keep up with the load of being the company owner. When his sister decides to get married he can't help but be wary and cynical of the whirlwind romance. It doesn't do him any favours that he has a undeniable attraction to the wedding planner. Seth was an ass most of the times. He was a hard ass through and through and emotionally stunted but his heart was in the right place.

Seth and Brooke definitely have chemistry but they obviosuly have no time for romance or a relationship. Brooke thinks it wouldn't be professional and Seth clearly doesn't believe in happy endings. They both also have their own issues to deal with. They both have some healing to do. But LL makes it work. Seth and Brooke made for a cute couple and I could see the chemistry. I just wasn't head over heels for them.

I also loved how we got a glimpse into the other two wedding planners whose books are next. I can't wait for Heather's story which is next and I ESPECIALLY can't wait for Alexis' story which will conclude the series. I also really ended up liking Maya, Seth's sister and Grant, Seth's best friend. All in all, To Have and to Hold was a nice read, just not my favourite.
