Review- Always On My Mind by Jill Shalvis

Summary-

THERE'S NOTHING LIKE THE REAL THING

After dropping out of pastry school and messing up her big break on a reality cooking show, Leah Sullivan needs to accomplish something in her life. But when she returns home to Lucky Harbor, she finds herself distracted by her best friend, Jack Harper. In an effort to cheer up Jack's ailing mother, Dee, Leah tells a little fib - that she and Jack are more than just friends. Soon pretending to be hot-and-heavy with this hunky firefighter feels too real to handle . . .

No-strings attachments suit Jack just fine - perfect for keeping the risk of heartbreak away. But as Jack and Leah break every one of their "just friends" rules, he longs to turn their pretend relationship into something permanent. Do best friends know too much about each other to risk falling in love? Or will Jack and Leah discover something new about each other in a little town called Lucky Harbor?

Review-

Always On My Mind is the next book in Jill Shalvis' Lucky Harbor series. I adore the town of Lucky Harbor and the people in it. All the stories and genuinely romantic and fun. This is the story of Jack and Leah who've been friends since childhood.

Leah is a pastry chef and after messing up her school and a reality cooking show she's back in Lucky Harbor to take care of her grandmother's pastry shop. What she doesn't expect how ever is for her childhood best friend Jack to become such a distraction. I liked Leah though she kept on changing her mind. She had abandonment issues because of which she's so hesitant with Jack.

Jack Harper is the local firefighter. His dad died a hero and Jack is just tying to keep up with his legacy. He isn't looking to get his heart broken again by Leah and has no time for a relationship with his job. Jack also has his mother to take care of. When Leah tells a fib, that she and Jack are in a relationship to soother his mother, he has no choice but to go along with it.

Jack and Leah had a lot of unsaid things between them. They weren't exactly misunderstandings, just conversations they should have had. Both have issues with which they're dealing. But there is an undeniable spark between them. Like all Jill Shalvis romances this one too had a lovely one though it was certainly not my favorite.

Though Always On My Mind was a predictable romance it was very enjoyable. It makes for a light yet sexy read. We get to see Ali and Luke. Ben's story is next and I think he's going to end up with Aubrey. All in all Always On My Mind was a fantastic read for me.

  2. The unsaid things issue doesn't sound very good, but I'm glad that besides the little flaw you were still able to enjoy this book. I've got to read some Jill Davis soon, though right now I'm in a very romantic read, but I'm already in the middle of a book, so maybe some other day. Great review, Janhvi! :)

  3. Great Review!!!! I have the book for review but haven't read any of the other books in this series. Is it okay to read them out of order. I enjoy the friends to lovers them in a story. It's more believable when there's a foundation for the relationship. I love how one little fib, leads to a relationship that might have not happened otherwise, kind of like The Marriage to a Billionaire Series by Jennifer Probst!
